Can you hold my order for a future date?
Yes, we can hold your order for a future delivery date. Once in your cart you may choose the date you would like your order to leave Salem, MA.

Does Harbor Sweets offer quantity discounts?
Yes, Volume discounts are available for purchases over $500 per order.

Can orders be shipped outside of the United States?
Yes. You can place an order for international delivery by calling Customer Service at 1-800-234-4860 Monday - Friday 9 AM to 5 PM EST. We are unable to process orders for international delivery, via our website at this time. (Please note: US territories outside continental US are considered international.) Due to customs restrictions, we cannot estimate an arrival date on International orders.

Can I ship to a P.O. Box?
At this time, we are only shipping UPS, so cannot ship to P.O. Boxes.  

How is shipping calculated?
Shipping and handling is calculated per shipping address.

Does Harbor Sweets ship on the weekend?
Harbor Sweets does not ship on Saturday or Sunday.

How do you prevent melting during shipping in hot weather?

During hot weather, we do everything in our power to preserve the freshness and prevent melting of your chocolates during transit. From June 1 - September 15, standard shipping is only available to select East Coast states. If ground shipping is not available during checkout, 2nd Day Air or faster shipping is required. A complimentary ice pack will be added to each package during these warm months. We ship Mon.-Thurs. only during the summer.

When will my order ship?
Your order will be shipped from Harbor Sweets, Salem, MA within 2 business days of receipt of your order unless you chose a future ship date.

How are orders shipped?
We ship UPS.

Where is my order? How can I track my package?
When you place your order on the website or by phone, you will receive an email once the shipping label has been created with a link to track your package. 

Will I receive an order confirmation? 
When you place your order, you will receive an order confirmation/receipt of your order.

What happens if my order is lost?
If your package was lost in shipping, Harbor Sweets will send you a replacement order.

When will I receive my order?
The arrival date will depend upon the number of business ship days required by UPS as stated in the map below.

What if I am unhappy with my purchase?
Our goal has always been to make the "best chocolates in the world". We want you to be completely satisfied with both the chocolates you receive and our service. We unconditionally guarantee your satisfaction. If, for any reason, you are not completely satisfied with Harbor Sweets Chocolates please let us know. We will gladly exchange the item, send a replacement, issue a credit or refund your payment. We ask that you notify us within 30 days of ship date. Can I tour the factory?
Tours are given on most Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:00 AM at our Salem location. Tours last approximately 20 minutes. Please call ahead to make a reservation or for more information, call 1-800-234-4860 or email

Our Chocolate

How can I store my chocolate?
We recommend storing your chocolate in a cool (60-70° F, 8-20°C), dry spot. Try not to store chocolate in the refrigerator. We do not recommend freezing chocolates as it can change the flavor over time.

What is "blooming" on chocolate and is it safe to eat?
Chocolate bloom is the whitish film discoloring the surface of your chocolate. It is usually caused when the chocolate is exposed to high temperatures - such as being left in your car on a sunny day - and then allowed to re-set. The bloom is actually the cocoa butter or fat within the chocolate rising to the surface. Blooming is a cosmetic issue and not a safety issue. Bloomed chocolate is safe to eat.

What percentage of cacao does your chocolate contain?
Our classic nautical chocolates have 50% cocoa, Salt & Ayre and our Gather chocolates have 70% cocoa.

Does Harbor Sweets contain nuts?
People with nut-based sensitivities should be aware that many of our chocolates contain pecans, almonds, peanuts or peanut butter. All of our products are produced in a kitchen where nut products are used and nut traces may be present.

How long will my chocolate stay fresh?
All Harbor Sweets packaging includes a freshness date clearly marked on labels or packaging. Harbor Sweets chocolates are made from all-natural ingredients. 

Are any of your chocolates Kosher?
At this time we do not have Kosher Certification.

Are any of your chocolates gluten free?
With the exception of Sea Biscuits and our Nor'Easter hot cocoa, all chocolates are Gluten Free.

Is Harbor Sweets' chocolate vegan?
No. The chocolate we use contains milk products.
